Plasma Treatment and Plasma Cleaning

We supply the Diener range of plasma treatment and plasma cleaning equipment & systems, the UK's best selling lab plasma treatment systems. These pages are a summary of our website dedicated to plasma treatment equipment where you can find much more detailed information.

Plasma Cleaning | Plasma Surface Activation | Plasma Coatings | Plasma Etching

Plasma treatments are used to clean and to modify the surfaces of materials such as polymers, textiles, ceramics and metals. 3D surfaces, foams, temperature sensitive materials, materials with micro-channels and complex geometries are all treated equally without further preparation.

Different plasma treatments are available to produce surface properties that are either:

- ultra-clean

- highly activated (as a pre-treatment prior to bonding, painting/printing or gluing)

- hydrophobic

- oleophobic

- hydrophilic

Advantages of Plasma Treatment

Plasma treatments take just minutes, are inherently environmentally friendly and do not affect the material properties in any other way.

Plasma treatments can usually replace one or more ineffective and inefficient processing steps with an inherently clean and repeatable one.

Plasma treatments provide a clear competitive advantage by introducing a low cost, high value added property to your product.

What We Offer

Our plasma treatment equipment is available in various sizes and configurations to meet every requirement, from the 'Zepto', a very low cost, bench-top package (about the size of a conventional microwave oven), for occassional and R&D use, through to fully automated production systems of increasing capacities and finally large scale customised systems of more than 12,000L capacity. Systems may be configured for batch treatments, with multiple shelves or trays, with rotating drums and with roll-to-roll mechanisms.

We also provide the following services:

- free of charge initial proof of concept sample treatments

- sub-contract treatment service

- off the shelf short term rental systems

- full method development service

Our Customers

Our customers are as varied as the materials that can be treated with plasma technology and include industrial production/R&D in the automotive, aerospace, biomedical, semiconductor, textile and food & packaging industries to name but a few as well as governmental and university research departments.

Application Areas

Medical & biomedical plasma surface treatment/activation:

Plasma treatment systems to improve cell and biomaterial adhesion to clinical diagnostic platforms. Also for pre-treatment prior to gluing of balloon catheters, syringes, valves etc. as well as general plastics

Plasma Cleaning:

Plasma cleaning systems for ultra-fine surface preparation offer an alternative to solvent (e.g. trichloroethylene) cleaning, degreasing and desmearing.

Plasma deposition on to textile & filtration media to produce hydrophobic/hydrophilic surfaces:

Plasma treatment for roll-to-roll hydrophilisation, hydrophobisation of non-woven materials, textiles, filters and films.

Plasma surface activation of composites:

Plasma treatment for the activation of aerospace & automotive composites and general plastics prior to bonding.

Plasma surface cleaning of pcb electronics:

Plasma treatment for PCB cleaning, etching and activation of polyamide film etc.

Atmospheric plasma surface treatment: For local plasma surface pre-treatments.
Plasma cleaning of SEM/TEM/REM samples/holders:

Ultra-fine plasma cleaning of samples and sample holders for electron microscopy.

Reactive Ion Etch (RIE) Plasma Systems: Benchtop reactive ion etch configuration.
